Antash Project
History
Porphyry style copper and molybdenum mineralization was discovered on the Antash property by BHP Billiton during a regional exploration program in 2002.
The Antash copper-molybdenum project is located within Peru's Miocene metallogenic belt, which extends for at least 900 km along the Western Cordillera of the northern and central parts of the country. The belt is characterized by a large number of different types of hydrothermal mineral deposits that formed between 6 to 20 Ma, including Cu, Cu-Mo, Cu-Au, and Mo-W porphyry and associated proximal skarn deposits (i.e. La Granja, Michiquillay, Toromocho) to polymetallic skarn, vein and replacement deposits (i.e. Julcani, Morococha, Antamina), precious metal deposits (i.e. Pierina, Tantahuatay, Yanacocha) and mercury (Huancavalica) deposits formed at relatively lower temperatures.
