ULRICH RATH
President & Chief Executive Officer,
Director
Mr. Rath has over 35 years of experience in the mining industry.
Mr. Rath has been the President and Senior Partner of FOCUS-Rath
and Associates Ltd. (a management company providing advisory
services to mining companies) since April 2003. Mr. Rath was
the President and Chief Executive Officer of EAGC Ventures
Corp. (a mining company operating in South Africa and acquired
by Bema Gold Corp. in February 2004) from April 2002 to March
2003, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Compania
Minera Milpo S.A.A. (a Peruvian mining company with two operations
and a focus on the development of medium sized-mines such
as Cerro Lindo) from April 1999 to December 2001 and the Vice-President,
Corporate Development of Rio Algom Limited (a senior Canadian
mining company acquired by BHP Billiton PLC in October 2000)
from December 1992 to November 1998.
Mr. Rath has led or been a senior member of the project management
teams responsible for the development of three mines in South
America, including Antamina (a U.S.$2.1 billion copper/zinc
mine located in Peru which is owned by Noranda Inc., BHP Billiton
PLC, Teck Cominco Limited and Mitsubishi Corporation), Bajo
de la Alumbrera (a U.S.$1.2 billion gold/copper mine located
in Argentina which is owned by Xstrata PLC, Wheaton River
Minerals Ltd. and Northern Orion Resources Inc.) and Cerro
Colorado (a U.S.$600 million copper mine located in Chile
which is owned by BHP Billiton PLC). Mr. Rath holds a Bachelor
of Science degree from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada
and a Masters of Science degree in Geology from the University
of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada.
FERNANDO PORCILE
Director
Mr. Porcile is a mineral engineer with over 40 years of experience in the mining industry. Most recently, Mr. Porcile was President, South America Copper for Falconbridge Limited with responsibility for managing Falconbridge's copper assets in South America (including the Lomas Bayas mining operations, the Altonorte smelter and Falconbridge's interests in Collahuasi and Antamina). Prior to 2002, Mr. Porcile was Vice President, Project Development for BHP Billiton Base Metals with responsibility for several key projects and prior to that he held a variety of positions with Rio Algom Limited (including President of Compania Minera Cerro Colorado). He also worked for CODELCO (a major Chilean copper producer).
ROBERT (BOB) BAXTER
Director
Mr. Baxter has over 20 years of experience in the mining industry
(principally in Latin America). Mr. Baxter was the General
Manager of Baxter Consultants Engineering (a consulting company
providing project appraisals to mining companies located primarily
in Peru) from September 2000 to June 2002, the Business Development
Coordinator Americas for North Limited (a senior Australian
mining company acquired by Rio Tinto PLC in October 2000)
from May 2000 to September 2000, the Regional Geologist, Americas
for North Limited from June 1999 to May 2000 and the Regional
Manager (Chile/Argentina) for North Limited from November
1996 to June 1999. Mr. Baxter has an Applied Bachelor of Science
(Honours) degree from the University of New South Wales.
JOHN KUTKEVICIUS
Director
Mr. Kutkevicius is a practicing lawyer with over 12 years
of experience. Mr. Kutkevicius has been a partner of the Toronto
law firm of Kutkevicius Kirsh, LLP since January 1, 2000 where
he practices in the area of income tax law. Prior to January
1, 2000, Mr. Kutkevicius was a partner at the law firm of
Beach Hepburn LLP where he practiced law in the area of income
tax law. Mr. Kutkevicius holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree
from Queens University, a Bachelor of Laws degree from
the University of Western Ontario and Masters of Law degree
from York University. Mr. Kutkevicius is a member of the Canadian
Tax Foundation.
E.G. (Ed) THOMPSON
Director
Mr. Thompson is a professional engineer and geologist with
over forty five years experience in all aspects of management
in the North and South American mining industry. He is the
President of E.G. Thompson Mining Consultants Inc., and is
a past President of the Prospectors and Developers Association
of Canada. His career started in the late 1950s with
Teck Corp. as a geologist, followed by senior positions at
Lacana Mining Corp., a sponsor of the Cordex Syndicate in
Nevada. During 1986 to 1990, he was the President of Mingold
Resources (Canada) and a director of Exploration of Westgold
Resources (USA) and was active in gold exploration and acquisitions.
He is a director of Aurogin Resources Ltd., Freewest Resources
Canada Inc., Western Troy Capital Resources Inc., Tri Origin
Exploration Ltd., and is the Chairman and a director of Sparton
Resources Inc. and Golden Queen Mining Co. Ltd. and for more
than the past five years has been the President and director
of Thompson Lundmark Gold Mines Ltd.
DAVID R. BELL
Director
Mr. Bell is a private consultant, operating his own business,
Bell Geological Services, consulting to various companies
in the mining community for the past 15 years. Mr. Bell was
previously employed by Falconbridge Nickel Mines as a miner
and geologist, where he worked in the Sudbury Basin and completed
exploration work in Blind River, Thunder Bay, Northern Manitoba
and British Columbia. Mr. Bell was also mine geologist for
Dome Mines Ltd. at Dome Mines in Timmins, and a project geologist
for Dome Mines Ltd. during the feasibility stage of Detour
Lake Mine in the James Bay Lowlands. He has evaluated and
reported on over sixty regional projects in Canada, the United
States, Australia, Philippines, Africa and Europe. He also
received the Prospector of the Year award (1982) in recognition
of his discoveries in the Hemlo Gold Camp, Ontario. Mr. Bell
is currently the Chairman and a director of Silk Road Resources
Ltd. and is also a director of Beaufiled Consolidated Resources
Inc. and Unigold Resources Inc.
PETER BLUNT, CGA Ontario.
Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary
Mr. Blunt has more than 35 years of accounting and finance
experience in Canadian and overseas corporate financial management
sectors having spent time as treasurer with the Sheridan Group
of companies and CFO and Treasurer with North American Palladium.
Since 1998 Mr. Blunt has been Financial Controller for a number
of companies operating in the Caribbean and North America.
JOHN KAPUSTA
Vice President Geology
Mr. Kapusta has had 28 years of experience in the exploration
and mining industry, including working at the Antamina project
and at the Bulyanhulu mine. Mr. Kapusta, who is very familiar
with the Peruvian geological and exploration environment,
will be concentrating the bulk of his efforts on facilitating
the transition of the Mina Justa project through the Feasibility
Study and construction, into production. Mr. Kapusta and his
family will reside in to Lima with the Marcobre SAC team.
